Commercial installations

Our team designed of a combination of hydronics, state-of-the-art heat pump systems, and customized solutions to meet various energy needs for Churchtown Dairy in Hudson, NY. The installation of a solar thermal system offset about 20 tons of the farm’s carbon emissions annually, and a state of the art radiant chilling system assists their cheese aging process while minimizing energy consumption. Churchtown Dairy was our first client to install a solar assisted heat pump, making their greenhouse one of the first buildings in the United States to utilize this novel heat pump design.

The Basilica Hudson net zero campus features several commercial Mitsubishi heat pumps, known as VRF systems. VRF systems offer precise temperature control and operate only at the required capacity, reducing energy waste, making them an excellent option for large commercial buildings with different cooling or heating needs across various areas. The Basilica project also includes a Spacepak Monobloc air-to-water system that heats and cools the building’s radiant slab floor and handles 100% of its domestic hot water.

This net zero build for a commercial space includes a Spacepak inverter reverse cycle chiller powered by PV solar. Air-to-water heat pumps work extremely well with radiant heating and cooling and are very versatile, able to utilize a diverse set of distribution options. A single system can heat a radiant floor and provide cooling via wall-mounted air-handlers or centralized duct-work. Their high efficiency and flexible application them the perfect solution for net zero and commercial projects.
